Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women

Akin to other human rights treaties, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women monitors State Parties compliance with the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), receives reports from State Parties, and publishes General Recommendations. If a State Party has ratified the Optional Protocol to CEDAW, then the Committee may receive communications from individuals or groups of individuals alleging violations of their rights under CEDAW and may also initiate inquiries into grave or systematic violations of CEDAW rights.
