Committee on the Rights of the Child
The Committee on the Rights of the Child supervises implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) by its State Parties, receives regular reports from State Parties, and publishes General Comments. The Optional Protocol (on a communications procedure) to the CRC provides the Committee with the competence to receive and consider individual communications alleging violations of that individualÕs rights under the CRC if that State Party has ratified the Optional Protocol. Alleged violations of the CRC's first two Protocols (on involvement of children in armed conflict and on sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography) may also be brought if that State Party has ratified it. This individual complaint procedure will become operative when ten State Parties ratify it (seven State Parties have as of September 25, 2013).
